The love affair between two beautiful people is not something unseen in yaoi before, but delving into the male modeling antics of two top models is something a bit new. Dakaichi – I’m Being Harassed by the Sexiest Man of the Year Unlike Yuri on Ice where it languishes in the “will they won’t they” fall in love, Given makes it pretty apparent early on. Newer on the scene, Given has given (!?) yaoi fans a tender and new romance to chew on with the added benefit of having the excellent soundtrack that comes with music anime. The animation of the figure skating could use some work, but the sexual tension in Yuri on Ice makes it always worth the watch. As an anime about figure skaters, you might expect a yaoi love story, but I remember when it first came out and people couldn’t decide if it was going to cross that line or not. You know it, you love it, and if you haven’t seen it yet, you should probably get on that. I feel compelled to mention that so that it doesn’t make all the commenters below arguing the difference look like dicks, and I’m sure they are fine people. This section about the difference between shounen ai and yaoi in particular was added after this article was initially published. While veterans can benefit from this list too, it was made for the newer watchers of the genre. That was a joke, of course, I just use yaoi specifically because it is typically what more novice fans know the boy’s love label to be.

I use the term yaoi mostly here because I am what we in the very professional and serious anime blogging community refer to as a fuckface. While yaoi will also feature romance, they bear a bit more flesh.
You get those lewd hand-holdies and maybe some kisses if you behave. It is easiest explained, for those who don’t know, that shounen ai is more your standard romance anime. With such wild designs it might have seemed impossible at first to even adapt such a huge film, but it seems that those behind the play have gone to great lengths to showcase the film's original work in an impressive new way.
Toby Olié, who works as the Puppetry Designer and Director for the Spirited Away stage play, shared a few photos from the new play that showcases how much work went into bringing each of the fantastical creations from the Studio Ghibli anime classic to life.
